We are looking for an architect who will work across Microsoft to help define the technical vision for a new Microsoft user experience and scalable system and build relationships across the division to ensure we deliver on key customer needs to empower them to achieve more.

You will be responsible for delivering engaging experiences to billions of customers. Serving that many customers is a huge responsibility and a rare opportunity. Every single day you will get the chance to deploy code into hyperscale services that power experiences on billions of devices. You will also work with the latest cloud technologies and develop scalable Azure services using a mix of in-house and open-source technology. You will be using the latest advances in AI and ML to drive intelligence into these experiences to make them fun, personalized, and relevant.

Responsibilities

As a?technical leader of our team, you will lead and contribute to the work of a talented group that values diverse ideas, perspectives, and?backgrounds. Key skills include:

Collaboration and Communication: Be a great partner and communicator to foster great relationships with partners across the business, customers, and other stakeholders.

Strategic Leadership and Judgement: Work with the leadership team to define the success metrics and drive strategy initiatives and provide thought leadership.

Planning and Execution: Dig into technical details to build the right, extensible architecture. Drive an engineering rhythm and cross partner dependencies so that the team operates at a high level, knowledge is shared appropriately, and smooth execution is facilitated.

On a day-to-day basis:

Define the right cross org architecture, make technology decisions, and oversee progress.

Support team members in their daily work and be the go-to person for architecture advice and key technical decisions.

Partner closely with Program Management, Design and Partner Teams to help define the product vision and strategy.

Inspire and drive engineering and operational excellence across the org.

Act as an advocate for our customers and ensure they are succeeding with our software and services.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science?or a related?STEM?field or equivalent industry experience?

At least 12 years of?industry?experience?in?software?engineering and experience in architecting high scale systems and engaging/modern user experiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

Dedicated to providing great developer experiences, driving simplicity through the dev pipeline.

Passion for building highly available distributed systems at scale and experiences that users love, making complex things simple.?

A strong desire to collaborate and work as a team, both within and across groups

A proven ability to be self-driven and deal with ambiguous business problems.??
